Strategy GuideMisty Mountains level in multi-player mode

Successfully complete the game with all eight artifacts to unlock the Misty Mountains level in multi-player mode.

Gimli level in multi-player mode

Successfully complete the game with two characters on any difficulty setting to unlock the Gimli level in multi-player mode.

Hidden ending sequence

Successfully complete the game with all characters to view a sequence featuring squirrels and a Cave Troll.

Easy levels and gems

If you are having too much difficulty passing a level, wait until you are about to die then save your game and quit. Restart that game and you will start back at the beginning with full health, full spirit, the experience you just gained, and all enemies are re-spawned for you to kill again. Repeat this several times to gain easy level ups, gems for buying power-ups and items, and to rack up kills in order to reach the 500 point skill increases.

Easy spirit

Find a place where Orcs, Trolls, Wargs, young Wargs, or Goblins cannot get you. For example, in the stone fence above the health pool when you are against the Fargon Troll (only the little Troll can get you). Then, stand still for about six to ten seconds.

Duplicating items in multi-player mode

Trade an item from character one to char two saves and have both turn off the game. Both characters should now have the item.

Use Overdraw quickly with Legolas

For those who use Overdraw with Legolas, use the following trick to eliminate the delay when he starts the attack. Press B (normal attack) then immediately before he shoots the arrow, press A (which should be set to Overdraw). You will hear the 'whoosh' sound if done correctly To charge the Overdraw, hold A after pressing B.

Defeating the Balrog

When you are facing the Balrog, immediately go to the top left corner. Shove yourself in as far as possible. The Balrog will appear, hit the wall, and always miss you. Then, launch fireworks or Zaps at him. If you really want to kill him the old fashioned way, sit there while pressing B.

Artifact locations

Bilbo's Map (Aragon, Frodo, Legolas)

Found in a Dimril Dale map. An elf will ask you to recover a lost item from some Orcs. Two Orcs will be guarding a chest and one of them will drop the artifact when you kill it.

Narsil, the Sword of Isildur (Aragorn, Legolas)

Found in Lothlorien at the bottom of the map. It can also be found by Frodo in Crinfanti.

Chain Link of Morgul (Aragorn, Legolas)

Found near the end of a Rohan map called the 'East Wall'. You start the level between three bushes (one big on the right and two smaller ones on the left). A bright blue Troll will appear and start running away. It invincible, but you can follow it to a cave. The chainmail will appear there.

Sauron's Ashes (Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Frodo)

This is found in a tower at Helm's Deep up a large flight of stairs in the 'Gorge' level to the north. It is the map immediately after you defend the broken wall with Gimli. A chest will appear to the left of the forge after opening all the boxes and chests on the northeast wall. Frodo does not go to Helm's Deep, but he can find the Ashes in a Mordor or Emyn Muil map.

Moria's Lamp (Legolas)

In the map where Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli meet Gandalf, Moria's Lamp is hidden in a secret area at the top of the map. You have take a path to the right of the screen and group, then left. When you walk into the edge of the screen, you will disappear to another area where you can easily get the lamp.

Balin's Book (Gandalf)

This is found in Balin's Tomb before the Cave Troll enters, just below the actual tomb.

Troll Tusk (Frodo)

Found in Moria (just after the bridge of Kaza-dum). The Troll Tusk can be found in the northeast corner.

Judkins Scrolls (Eowyn)

In one map, a woman will ask you to clear town hall (a large building in the center of the area). Instead of immediately going in, go near it, then wander around the level for awhile, killing things and collecting items. When you return (usually), you can find the artifact in front of a wood pile to the west of the town hall door.

• Beat the Uruk-Hai boss

To beat the Uruk-hai boss, dodge his flaming arrows by hiding behind one of the statues. He goes through patterns of three shots then takes a couple of seconds to reload, and at that moment you have to step out from behind the statue and fire an arrow at him, then jump back behind the statue again. Other orcs will come to help him as you do this. Once you do that a couple of times, he will drop the bow and pick up a metal sword. Once you kill them, it will be just u and the boss. He will run after you, so just run behind one of the statues. Then he will take a swing and get his sword stuck. Take your bow and arrow and shoot him while he is stuck.

I think these are the best characters to choose for every mission:

• Cave Troll in Moria

After the Fellowship is ambushed by Orcs and you defeat some of them whomever you're playing as will be pursued by the Troll, after giving him several blows your character will jump onto a ledge and be followed by the Troll. Shoot arrows at him
and hide behind pillars when he swings his chain at you. Some orcs will be on the ledge as well, defeat them and get posions which increase your health, just keep shooting that Cave Troll and duck behind pillars and you'll get him!

• Cheat Codes

Note: You can only enter these codes after you have successfully beaten Tower of Orthanc with Legolas, Aragorn, or Gimli and Isildur.

• Defeating Lurtz (as Aragorn)

Lurts starts by shooting arrows. Deflect them with your sword then fire a charged arrow at him. Keep repeating this until the intermission sequence where he grabs a sword from the ground begins. When he charges you, kill the minions that
appear and try to hide behind one of the marble statues surrounding the arena. He will stab it, stick in, then be open for an attack. Use the Y thrust. Normally, two shots can be dealt and sometimes a third if you are lucky. Note: This is on the
easy and normal difficulty setting. Also, when he rips his sword from the marble statue, it disintegrates, dropping health, arrows or other useful items.

• Defeating the Orc Overseer riding the Warg

Take care of the Wargs and riders that are present when the battle starts. The Wargs charge, but just step out of the way. Fierce Attack as they pass and stop. Soon, you will be facing just the Orc Overseer on his Warg, who deflects every arrow with his sword. Close attacks are similarly foiled by the Warg biting you, lifting you into the air, and the Overseer slashes at you. He also charges, and the Warg swerves to hit you, and succeeds virtually every time, so take care of him as soon as possible. The Overseer regularly calls another Orc and Warg into the battle. Dispatch it in the same way as the others, but try to stay close to the Overseer. When you kill the summoned Orc and Warg, the Overseer's Warg rears up. When it does, run in behind it and Fierce Attack the Orc. You can usually get three good hits on him this way. After the third hit, he will slash you, go back and wait for the next Orc and Warg to be summoned. Dispatch them and wait for the Overseer's Warg to rear again. Repeat this three to four times to defeat him.
When you first encounter the Orc Overseer, he will have approximately four other Warg Riders with him. Dispatch these using any means necessary (projectile attacks work well), then get ready for the Overseer himself. Do not get too close or the Warg will bite you and the Orc riding it will slash you. Stay a safe distance away and the Overseer will charge. Parry the charge and you will receive little, if any, damage. Successfully parry a second charge and the Warg will back away and rear up on its hind legs. Move in and use any of the attack combinations to cause damage. Occasionally the Overseer will call in another Warg to help. Fire projectiles at this 'helper' to eliminate it. Continue to parry the Overseer's
charges. It will rear up after every second charge, at which time you can move in and eliminate him.
When you first see the Orc Overeseer, he will have about four other allies with him. These are easy to kill. Do so, and you will face the Orc Overseer. You cannot shoot him, because he deflects your arrows/axes, and you cannot attack him because his Warg will bite and lift you into the air for the Orc Overseer to slash. He will charge at you. Parry those attacks. After about two charges, he will rear his Warg. Instead of going behind at this point, shoot it with an axe/arrow. It will fall and whine. Then, move in and slash the overseer with fierce attacks, combos, etc. This takes about half of his life away. He will send in a warg ally, which is useful. Whenever you kill him, he will drop arrows or life. Repeat this process until you win.

• Defeating Trolls

In the levels with Trolls, you can kill them easily without getting hit once. Run up to a Troll after it has thrown a log at you or tried to hit you. Press Y once only, then run away. Do not run too far. Stay close, but not too close for it to hit you. Wait until it takes a swipe at you, then run back at it and press Y once again. Repeat this until it is dead.

• Easy 'Excellent' rank

When you can play levels over again, use this trick. It will take several attempts, depending on your skill. In all of the levels (excluding Weathertop, Amon Hen, Plains of Rohan, Breached Wall, and the Helms Deep), you can complete the level
with an 'Excellent' rank, just by killing one or two Orcs, and getting 'Excellent'. Kill a few Orcs at the beginning of the level (five or more), getting an 'Excellent' rank. Then, run near to the end of the level. For example, in the Gates of Moria
level kill off the first few Orcs with your Linked Move until the intermission sequence with the arrow and the Orc and Gimli. Then, run to the part where you need to kill the Watcher, and do not kill any Orcs on the way, unless you have to. No orcs will follow you to the Boss part after you have started it. Kill the Watcher. When your kills get counted, as you will see, you will have more 'Excellent' kills.

• Easy level

The easiest way to level up is to repeatedly enable the 'Add 1000 experience points' code. Each time you level up, you will hear a noise along with the sword.

• Fangorn And Tower Of Orthanc Background Photos

Successfully complete the Fangorn's Forest level with any character.

• Fellowship Of The Ring Background Photos

Successfully complete the Balin's Tomb level with any character.

• For the Watcher in the Water

When you face the Watcher in the Water it will lift three tentacles out of the water and swipe at you, Parry (press B)! Then after a second or so approach one of the tentacles and cut it off (press A). The Watcher will appear, shoot an arrow at it
(hold L, press A and release A), do these steps 3 - 4 times and you will have defeated him.

• Funny Glitch

At Balin's tomb,make sure that your character is Gimli. Then, right when Gimli is about to climb up the ledge, hold Y so that Gimli's axe sets on fire (you need the upgrade though). Then, while it shows the clip of Gimli climing up the ledge his axe will be on fire. | Submitted by PeterMarr

• How to defeat the kraken

When you are in the level Gates of moria eventually you run into a kraken. Heres how you beat it; It will attack you so you must deffend yourself (presing the B button), then it will raise a tentecual and put the tentucal back in the water. That tentucal is the one he will raise first. Go up by the same tentecal and get ready to attack is; when the kraken raises the tentecal attack it(by presing the A button). once you do that for awhile it will eventually die. | Submitted by Matthewkool

It takes four arrows to kill Uruk-Hai, whereas with regular Orcs it only takes two.

• Play As Isildur

Successfully complete the Tower Of Orthanc level with any character to unlock Isildur as a playable character on most levels. Once you play the Tower Of Orthanc level as Isildur, he will be available at level 10 for all levels of the game.

• Putting out fires

Many parts of the game will require you to put out a fire or save people in order to move on to the next area. Look for a barrel in the area of the fire. Smash it with a speed attack and water will flow out, extinguishing any fires it can.

• Slow Motion
